Arts & Entertainment in SWLA
Arts are in each and every corner of our region, especially in Calcasieu Parish, which is home to the Lake Charles Civic Ballet and Lake Charles Symphony. In any week, you can enjoy a trip to a museum, watch a play, or buy artwork. Future artists are developed through the numerous art camps, music schools and dance schools.
Southwest Louisiana is home to five casino and gaming resorts, including the Coushatta Casino Resort, the Delta Downs Racetrack & Casino, the Golden Nugget Casino Resort, and L’Auberge Casino Resort. These facilities feature gaming and recreational activities of all kinds, ranging from renowned golf courses to concerts of some of the biggest names in the music industry. These resorts also offer great swimming and sunbathing facilities, a host of seaside pubs, and sporting events. Live bands playing local music can be found in almost any town or at numerous festivals, which occur across the region through all seasons of the year. The region’s larger cities and towns, such as DeQuincy, DeRidder, Jennings, Lake Charles, and Sulphur, are home to numerous museums, theatres, historic places and districts, and cultural event centers.
Other popular destinations include the Bayou Rum distillery in Jeff Davis Parish and the Crying Eagle Brewery in Lake Charles, which offer an entertaining mix of commerce, food and libations.
There are also fairs and festivals being held almost every weekend spanning from January’s Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival in Cameron Parish to the Coushatta Powwow held by the Coushatta Tribe.
