Portia Pappion Metoyer (1st picture) has been named the Business Development & Data Analyst for the SWLA Economic Development Alliance. She will provide research and data related to economic development activity within the five-parish region. As a small business owner herself, Metoyer understands the importance of local economic growth and sustainability. She joined the Alliance/Chamber SWLA in 2013 as the Events Coordinator, where she served as the primary liaison for all meetings, events, and facilities management issues at the SEED Center. Metoyer has worked directly with large and small businesses throughout her career in many different capacities. Her diverse employment history has prepared her for her new role in economic development research. Metoyer has gained experience in small business consulting, hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, business sales, sales training, marketing, telecommunications sales management, hospitality/customer service supervision, and business continuity. Metoyer has lived in the Lake Charles area all of her life. She received a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from McNeese State University in addition to post graduate work in communications. She is part owner and business manager of Back Porch Entertainment LLC which is the promotion and publishing company for Rusty Metoyer and The Zydeco Krush.
Sierra Seemion (2nd picture) was hired as the new Events Coordinator in July at the SWLA Economic Development Alliance. She will serve as the primary liaison for all meetings, events, and facilities management issues at the SEED Center. Seemion graduated from Northwestern State University in 2017 with a degree in Hospitality Management. Since then, she has worked as a team member at L’Auberge Casino Resort.
