A Message from the SWLA Economic Development Alliance / Chamber SWLA
Southwest Louisiana has been adversely impacted by huge amounts of rain this week. Both businesses and homeowners -- who have been in recovery mode since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020, and the winter storm earlier this year -- are now contending with 100-year flood levels. If there's ever been a locale that needs federal and state help, it is Lake Charles, Cameron, and other areas within the five parish area (Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jeff Davis parishes).
As the voice and advocate for the regional business community, The SWLA Economic Development Alliance/Chamber SWLA is requesting timely action from the Biden Administration and Louisiana Congressional delegation, to expedite the disaster declaration and emergency recovery funding process for our region.
We were making good progress rebuilding our homes and economy. This latest weather incident has dealt the region a blow and assistance is needed to ensure our regional community recovers.
The Alliance/Chamber SWLA is here to support and provide assistance to our members and overall business community. We have started an information collection campaign in order to provide data related to this most recent natural incident to local, state, and federal officials.
